Listener Emails
Once again, we have a bunch of great listener emails. Keep ‘em rolling in at hip@greenfeet.com.
And don’t forget to post articles, links, and speak your mind at our MHTH forum!
- Are your fish dying from dye? Beth wanted to let everyone know about a disturbing practice going on in the
freshwater tropical fish industry. She found that many of these fish have been either injected with a needle or dipped in a dye that is known to
cause disease and lesions that will ultimately kill the fish. Read more about this problem at DeathbyDyeing.org. - Shrink wrapped trash? Josh sent along an article about TransLoad America, a solid waste management company that plans to
shrink wrap tons of garbage in plastic. The
company claims it a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to dispose of waste because the shrink wrapped cylindrical bales won’t
leach pollution into groundwater. - Vegetarian recommendation. Theresa in Santa Cruz wanted to let everyone
know about her favorite brand of fake chicken and turkey, Quorn. - Shout out! Big thanks to Natalie and her blog, She who laughs, lasts, for the spreading
the word about More Hip! - No Impact. Allison found an article about a family in NYC conducting what
they call the No Impact experiment. Rules for No Impact
include producing no trash (except compost), eating only organic food grown within a 250-mile radius of Manhattan, and using no
paper (even toilet paper is off limits). Alison also found a cool water powered clock and a
multifunction clock with thermometer and alarm. - A Hipster needs your help! Carrie is planning a walk from New York to Los Angeles in order to
raise awareness of the small actions we can all take to make the environment healthier. She needs lots of supplies and
support, so check out her website and help this dedicated hipster raise awareness!
